Edward "Mush" Bauer
Edward "Mush" Bauer of Campbellsport was a local legend in Campbellsport. He was born November 7, 1906 and at a young age moved to Campbellsport with his family. His father eventually purchased the Northwestern Hotel and renamed it Bauer's Hotel. His weight gain was the result of a pituitary gland that was damaged when he had scarlet fever as a young child. The hotel was very well known and only grew in its fame when Mush took over. "Mush" had run the hotel for 28 years. By this time Ed grown to 785 lbs. He passed in January of 1957. Notice the poster in the background, for the fundraising drive to restore the old Galloway House in Fond du Lac. Mush's chair was custom-made for him by Miller Furniture of Kewaskum, and is now on display at Galloway House and Village, Fond du Lac, WI.
