Melanie Radzicki McManus had her audience ready to pull on hiking boots and hit the trail as she shared stories of hiking the entirety of Wisconsin’s own Ice Age Trail. We partnered with the Fond du Lac Public Library to bring in McManus, freelance travel writer, hiker, speaker, and author of Thousand-Miler: Adventures Hiking the Ice Age Trail on November 15. Through beautiful photos and exciting narrative, McManus explained the fascinating history of the National Scenic Trail system, and how Wisconsin’s Ice Age Trail became a National Scenic Trail. One of only 11 National Scenic Trails nation-wide, the entire Ice Age Trail is contained in the state of Wisconsin.

So this is the fun thing: part of this aptly named Scenic Trail runs though Fond du Lac County! Whether you were able to attend this great program or not, we hope you’re inspired to check out this unique part of our county’s history!
