The Great Fire of 1871

August 6, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The deadliest fire in US history happened right here in Wisconsin! Come hear David Siegel, Belgian Heritage Center speaker and Green Bay Fire Fighter, as he takes you back to the Great Fire of 1871. Often overshadowed by the Peshtigo and Chicago fires, this inferno ravaged the Belgian settlements in Brown, Door, and Kewaunee Counties. The transformation of the Belgian communities that occurred through rebuilding is an inspiring story everyone should know. Program is included in admission, and is free for Fond du Lac County Historical Society members.
