Become a Volunteer in 2020!

As we celebrate the start of 2020, FCHS is looking forward to new programs and projects to begin. To work towards our goals, we need individuals, families and teams from our community to step up and take the lead! Here are some of our current volunteer opportunities:

  1. Event Committees: Do you enjoy working with others and a free evening once or twice a month? We are looking for committee members to help organize events such as our Ice Cream Social, Gatsby Party, Blossom Plant Sale, Nights Out at the Village and more! If you have a great event you’d like to see, we’d be happy to help you start building a committee for a new event as well.
  2. Office Work: If you’re a fast learner and comfortable with computers, helping out in our office might be the fit for you! We need help entering data into Excel and other databases, transcribing older documents into digital files and scanning.
  3. School Tours: One of our largest outreach programs is educating hundreds of 2nd and 3rd grade students from Fond du Lac county. We are in need of guides, who are trained to share about what life was like in the 1880-90s and hands-on activities. This opportunity comes in May and June as well as September, with tours scheduled during week day mornings. This is a great opportunity for educators, stay at home parents and retirees.
  4. Summer Season: It may be chilly in Wisconsin, but now is a great time to consider becoming a volunteer on a weekend or weekday team! Teams consist of 4-8 people who take a specific weekday each week or weekend per month that work in our Welcome Center and guide tours of the Galloway House and Village. It’s a great way to give back while making new friends!

If any of these opportunities fit your interests and schedule, reach out! We also have a Facebook group for volunteers to communicate and learn about upcoming opportunities: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1691028264542049/?ref=bookmarks
