There originally were eight schools in the town of Empire:
Grand View School, district #1, section 31. Built in 1852
Hill Crest School, district #2, section 32.
Fourth Street School, district #3, section 18. Built in 1864
Edison School, district #4, section 21. Built in 1860
Taft School, district #5, section 10. Built in 1851
Sunnyside School, district #6, section 23. Built in 1850
Calvert School, district #7, section 7. Built in 1855
Daniel Boone School, district #8, section 25. Built in 1861
deNeveu School, section 30.
