An Early History of the Wisconsin State Prison at Waupun

Discover the history of one the country’s oldest prisons still in operation with Zac Dickhut, board member at the Waupun Historical Society, as he shares a brief history of how the Wisconsin State Prison came to be, and key changes over time. A masterful story-teller, he will let you in on the beginnings, changes, and unique stories of this historical institution. You’ll leave this program fascinated, informed, and entertained!
Zac Dickhut has been an active volunteer with the Waupun Historical Society since 2011. He holds a MA in Public History and works as a museum curator, volunteering and working for several historical institutions.
