Hundreds Enjoy 67th Annual Ice Cream Social!

The Fond du Lac County Historical Society was excited to welcome so many of our neighbors and friends to our 67th Annual Ice Cream Social on August 13, 2023!

Even a little unexpected rain didn’t hinder the fun at this year’s event. Kids played old-fashioned games, made a variety of crafts, painted and raced pinewood derby cars, got their faces painted, took home custom-made balloon creations, and made friends with the puppies from Sandi Paws.

Visitors of all ages enjoyed the printing press demonstrations, special exhibits, schoolhouse experience, Great Fire of 1871 program followed by a Firehouse tour, scavenger hunts, petting zoo, 1917 steam engine, Fond du Lac Children’s Chorale, vet office tours, The Wisconsin Wheelmen, Page Four Band, a 1922 Model T, and antique carriages from the FCHS’s collection.

No one went hungry, with all the great food available! Gilles frozen custard scooped by our amazing Celebrity Scoopers, bakery-fresh apple and cherry pie, A&W root beer floats, burgers, brats, hot dogs, mac ‘n cheese, and pulled pork all proved to be favorites throughout the day.

A huge thank you to all who came to this timeless and great event! We also appreciate and thank the many volunteers, living history and program participants, interns, and Celebrity Scoopers who helped make this a fantastic day. We couldn’t have done it without you!
